What to expect from my Logo Design Course

After many years off designing logos, I’ve finally reached a level that I believe I can bring value to others.

My logo design career has certainly not been easy, and I had faced many challenging problems.

As a self-taught designer, you can sometimes feel lost, and uncertain if you are making the right choices with your designs and also within your career.

In collaboration with Awwwards Academy, I’ve put together a logo design course teaching graphic designers how to reach new heights within their logo design career, as well as how to think out side the box during the creative process.

In this blog post, I will talk about what to expect from my new Logo design course ‘Timeless Logo Designs: The Creative Process’, as well as how it will ensure you will bridge the gap between intermediate and an advanced logo designer.

What makes Logo Designs Timeless?

You’ve probably heard me say ‘Timeless’ countless times, but when the value of this word is understood, it can be a complete paradigm shift.

Timeless logo design is completely overlooked, and it is clear that many designers have contrary belifes to the concept. Logo design is about discipline, removing anything abritarty, and not adding anything irrelevant.

Keeping things simple is not and easy task. Thats why professional logo designers are paid a lot to do so.

Humans always wan’t to add things believing that adding is increasing value, but that is not always the case.

In ‘Timeless Logo Design: The Creative Process’ (TLD), we will learn what truly makes a logo design timeless. One aspect is the simple use of geometric shapes which can be used to symbolise anything in our world today.

Logo design is visual communication. The best way to communicate to an audience is using elementary shapes that everyone understands. Geometric shapes are a universal language used by everyone.

Another focal point for timeless logo designs discussed within my course is Semiotics.

Semiotics is the study of signs and symbols. This theory is extremely relevant for graphic designers, especially those who are wanting to become professional logo designers.

As mentioned geometric shapes is a language that everyone understands. Semiotics, is a deeper study of why and how particular signs and symbols mean certain things.

When understanding this theory, and applying it to your logo designs, you can excel your thinking which may result in consistent & distinctive work.

Bringing a Logo design to life with Mockups

Creating a timeless logo design is certainly one part of the creative process. However, bringing it to life is another.

When showing work to a client, by this stage we all probably use mockups we download or purchase online. This can really bridge the gap between imagination and reality.

However, you may sometimes have a problem of not getting the exact mockup needed when working with a particular client. In my logo design course, we will also learn how to create your own mockup from scratch.

There has been many times within my career that I have had make or break concepts due the mockups I had presented.

Sometimes the client doesn’t always share the same vision as you. You are the creative and maybe the only one that can visualise the full potential of the logo design.

As a result, it is your responsibility to show the logo design in all it’s glory through areas such as custom mockups.

When your client finds it difficult to see the true value in the logo design recomended, it is important that you do your best to visually persuade the client to understanding how the problem is being solved. This can simply be done I creating specific mockups which relate to the client which is what you will be learning on TLD.

Logo Design Process Secrets

There are certainly many effective tools that are not shared amongst the logo design community.

Within my logo design course, I share the secret plugins and resources for an effective logo design process.

Firstly, gaining inspiration as a logo designer is extremely important and the fuel to your creativity. Many logo designers are not aware that in order to succeed as a logo design professional, you NEED to invest in resources that bring value.

In my course, I will talk about in-depth, the best logo design books that you need in order to stay creative. I will also include resources that I have prepared such as grids and pre-made shapes for bold and simple logo designs.

Lastly, something that isn’t discussed amongst many logo designers is files that clients will need.

How many times have you finished a project for a client, sent over all the files but they then later request for a different file which takes up more of your time…?

Not only this, but preparing files at the end of a project for clients can be extremely exhausting and can in the long-term mean that you are loosing money. Spending hours exporting files results in an opportunity cost for your business, as you can be doing something else with your valuable time.

But have no fear, ‘The Logo Package Express’ is here!

The Logo Package Express, is an Adobe Illustrator plugin that exports all the files that your client needs within under 5 minutes. This tool is widely used by logo design professionals, and it is a form of working smarter, not harder.

In the course, my friend Michael Bruny-groth, The Logo Package Express CEO & Founder, will be giving a tutorial on how to use the Adobe Illustrator plugin

I will also be giving $20 discount to only those who enrol on TLD.

The truth about charging more…

Regardless on what career you are in, growth is crucial and important to expand as a business owner. One way to grow as designer is increasing your prices.

Although improving your skill as a designer means growth, it doesn’t always mean that you can charge more. I do believe that improving your skills as a designer is certainly the first step to increase your pricing due to the confidence you will have as a result of investing in your craft.

However there are more factors to increasing your price. The perception to the value of your work is extremely important and fundamental to your pricing.

In TLD, you will learn a glimpse on how to charge more as a logo designer. I will also discuss the formulas on how to attract high-profile clients.

This also goes hand-in-hand with showcasing your work in a particular way to attract clients that can afford your design.

These topics will be briefly discussed within my ‘BONUS CHAPTER’ as it will be another course in the near future.

Conclusion…

To conclude, TLD is an advanced course for graphic designers who are taking the next step to specialise in logo design. Ensuring your work to stand out to attract high-profile clients.

There is a whole bunch of value within the course. I believe if I had known particular things earlier, I may have saved two years on creating better logos.

TLD offers a new way of thinking towards logo designs, as well as enhancing you're creative process. A very practical, hands-on course that allows you to learn whilst being creative.

As mentioned, I will be sharing secrets on an effective logo design process which includes resources used by professionals, as well as offering discount for The Logo Package Express.
